Hudson Information Technology for Community Health (HITCH) is a community-based non-profit 501c(3) organization located in Ossining, NY, that promotes high quality care among safety-net primary care providers that enhance access to quality health care for the medically underserved.

Hitch, founded in 2010,  is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the provision of high quality health care to communities across New York’s Hudson Valley Region.  We work with our sponsors, three federally qualified health centers, Open Door Family Medical Centers, Inc., Sun River Health, and the Institute for Family Health, to implement programs that enhance the access to an qualiy of health care for the medically underserved.

The Cancer Services Program (CSP) of the Hudson Valley, a program of Hitch, works to decrease rates of cancer and cancer deaths among uninsured people living in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties. We provide free breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screening, diagnostic and case management services to eligible uninsured and underinsured people residing in the Hudson Valley.

The CSP provides breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings at NO COST to men and women who:

  • Do not have health insurance or have health insurance that does not cover the cost of these screenings
  • Cannot pay for these screenings
  • Meet income eligibility requirements
  • Meet age requirements
  • Live in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster or Westchester counties

Breast Cancer Screening

Mammogram and Clinical Breast Exam

  • Women ages 40 and older
  • Women under age 40 at high risk for breast cancer*

*Only a New York State-licensed health care provider can determine risk

Cervical Cancer Screening

Pap Test and Pelvic Exam

  • Women ages 40 and older

Colorectal Cancer Screening

Fecal Occult Blood Test/Fecal Immunochemical Test Kit

  • People ages 45 and older at average risk for colorectal cancer

Colonoscopy

  • People at increased or high risk for colorectal cancer*

* Testimonial from Fernanda, a 43 year old woman who came to Cancer Services Program with a breast mass. She had a mammography and was diagnosed with breast cancer. Had it not been for the CSP program, she would not have been able to afford the imaging and biopsy and her cancer would have gone undetected.  She is now on the road to recovery and very grateful for the services that the Cancer Services Program provided to her.
